So a quick update, til I run to catch my flight back to Seoul at 11 this morning. It's been an amazing 2 weeks, and hopefully 2 wonderful months to come. I'm home (in Chicago) this week for training for the Northwestern program I'll be doing in New York next week. The group will be studying Education and Youth Development, working on various service-learning projects throughout the city for an intense week of exploring the role of education in social transformation and youth development.
I'm excited for the weeks to come. But for now I am awaiting a flight back to S. Korea, where I will spend a day in Seoul before going back down to Daegu to teach this week. Teaching there has been improving lately. Taught 2 weeks of college classes before the break this week. Last week, two fellow teachers resigned and moved on to better positions for them, and the director is leaving soon; so changes are imminent. We'll see how the next few weeks go...the program has not yet gotten its head above water.
Then come Friday next I'm on a flight back to the US. I'll be meeting up with Loizos and Alicia, and hopefully Tony, Nick, etc. when I'm in NYC that first night before the CivicWeek program takes off. It'll be nice to see them again and catch up (haven't seen them since leaving Costa Rica). We start our preps for the program on Sat and then the 18 students arrive on Sunday; once they arrive it's non-stop action through the following Saturday! Then I'll be returning to Korea once again.
Meanwhile, I'm also preparing for the workshops/consultancy I'll be conducting in India in April. This is my first trip to New Delhi so psyched doesn't quite sum up my tremendous excitement for this adventure and professional development. I'll be definitely presenting on Multiculturalism, Peace, and Nonviolent Communication at a national conference hosted by WISCOMP (an organization of The Foundation for Universal Responsibility of HH The Dalai Lama). All of this is coming to fruition through Shreya and the UPeace network!
And all this while I'm still working on publications (have 2 out at the moment, to WISCOMP and Infactis Pax) and other peace initiatives. Working on the peace website with Shreya, developing a syllabus for the summer CEP program in San Francisco, etc., and perpetually finding new projects....There are good things to come.
...OK, off to catch my flight.
